Hornby Model Railway Locomotive Reviews -
Class 90
Virgin
Class 47
(R2289G) Rating 6/10 Good Model, nice
detailing.
This model's exterior detailing is fairly good. The bogie's have been
highlighted, and the body detailing has some nice touches. There is some
pipe work on the bogies and on the body. This model does not have either
lights or a detailed cab. It's not as detailed as the Class 56, even though
I believe the 47 became the 56. This model has standard couplings, and does
not come with any extra detailing for display purposes.

This model has Hornby's five pole ringfield motor, which gives it both good
slow speed control and overall top speed. This model has no problem with
Hornby standard points when tested and no problems with stalling.
Suitable rolling stock: R4086, R4087, R4088, R4096, R4097,
R4098.
