Model Railway Layout Finishing Touches

This page includes all those little highlights like signs and
people which don't fit into one category.
Skips - Pritchard Patent
Product Company Ltd

These two skips are made by Pritchard Patent Product Company Ltd.
The detailing on them is great. I have added some rubbish, bits of rail and
sleeper cut offs, as well as some model pallets.
Garden - Hornby,
Gaugemaster, Ratio

This little garden/allotment was made using a Gaugemaster apple
tree, Hornby grass scatter, Hornby bushes, brown Humbrol paint, and a ratio shed
and fence (fence painted with Humbrol model paint). This took about an hour and
I think the look is very effective. I used 2 paper clips bent and cut to length
to make a runner been frame. I simply made some wholes in the board stood the
poles up and soldered them together.
Railway Crossing -
Peco and readymade

This crossing was scratch built and had to allow the removal of
the track as it is located on a recoverable link board between my hinged board
and my fixed shelf. The gate is made by Peco. I had it spare from a Peco
crossing which I upgraded to a more modern Peco light and arm setup.
Cows - Cows, Ratio cow
shed

The ratio barn was very easy to build and paint. painting was not
essential as the plastic was the right colour, but for best effect it is
recommended. The cows are not Hornby but I have forgotten where I acquired them
from. The Hornby Cows (R768) also look very nice ad are a nice touch for any
large areas of grass, like in the picture above of the corner of my base board
Cycle shed - Ratio

Cost less than £2. Very fiddly to build and paint but was worth
it. Also came with some extra bikes to place all over your railway layout.
Railway Footbridge -
Hornby R076
This Hornby foot bridge looks great and is push to fit assembly.
The bridge spans two tracks from one platform to another platform and is high
enough to be used freestanding at trackside level.
Lorry - (With Bachmann
Container)

These lorry's can sometimes be found in the pound shopping
various forms and livery. If you want it to be a flat bed container carrier
simply remove the trailers box top. Detailing is surprisingly good and the scale
looks very close.
