Re: Hornby Pannier Tank

I have the Hornby 2771 pannier, a 1970's 8751 pannier, and a bachmann pannier, I have had the Hornby 2771 pannier for 6 years or so, it was ok to start off with, but over time it bacame a very erratic runner and gave up the ghost around 3 1/2 years ago, the body of the loco isn't too bad (doesn't ha...

Re: Tornado express coach question

I'm sure I read of something along these lines some years ago to run with one of the mainline certified GWR locos; I wonder what happened to that idea? yes there was, but other events conspired into the abandonment and sale of said item.....but We won't go into that...... I can think of a few probl...

Re: Tornado express coach question

Sort of, the A1 Trust comissioned Bachmann to produce a limited edition BCK painted up as the support coach that they're currently overhauling/converting. I'm sure others have been comissioned as limited editions elsewhere but they'll only be based on the original toolings rather than a bespoke mod...

Re: Coach Identification on King Edward 1

I remember the ETHEL's from the railtours out of Marylebone during the 1980's (curse of photographers at the time!!) they could have done with one of those coaches on the Cathedrals Express 6024 hauled on 12/02....... apparently they had no heating all day and some coaches had no power for the light...

Re: Coach Identification on King Edward 1

Hi James

the coach has a diesel generator to provide lighting and electric train heating, there are a few knocking around in different liveries

Hope this helps

Re: 70000 on the Royal Train - 24th January.

6024 only had 3 lamps on the bufferbeam when it hauled the royal train on the Severn Valley a few years back, but it did have the Prince of Wales headboad hung on the top lamp bracket

hope this helps

Cheers

Re: Will radius 2 be OK for...

I have a 22xx, 57xx and an autocoach, all 3 run well on 1'st to 4th radius track, so you'll have no problems on 2nd radius

hope this helps

Re: Turntables

I know Marylebone had a turntable that was still being used in the mid to late 1980's, as mentioned before Old Oak Common still had one in use at that time,
appart from the one at preserved heritage lines, not sure if any are left

Hope this Helps

Re: The Return of the King

I read in Heritage Rail's model railway segment that the model of 6023 will only be avaliable in a limited number (1000 units), so you'll have to be quick if you want one,
