Re: British Rail 1988 to 1990 - 50023 is painted

What a great result on the 50 (and the 60 is none too shabby also ;-) ) I can see you've really got to grips with your airbrush. The NSE livery looks quite tricky to do, did you use any special techniques when masking ? I take it you plan to weather the rest of your locos, I bet the 58 will look goo...

Re: Compare HST - R2701 & R2296

Yes, as Hairyhandedfool said, the R2296 is the older, inferior tooling. R2701 is Hornbys newer super-detail model, directional lighting, cab lighting, centrally mounted motor, a real beast ! :) I have noticed mind, that the blue/grey version is out of stock everywhere and attracting rather high pric...

Re: NSE days old oak

Those dummy signals are great... I had never thought of doing that ! Sounds like a great project to do on a budget, so have just ordered myself some LED's.

So cheers for the idea! :D

Re: The Strogaloft - Construction Begins... Again!

Evening chaps. Just been up the loft to give the modroc a lick of brown poster paint... Took a couple of pics to show how this area is coming along. Next job will be to cover this area with static-grass. http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff219/DrStroganoff/modroc1.jpg http://i238.photobucket.com/al...

They were supposed to be on the shelves the first week of June... However Modelfair's most recent newsletter states they are now due in July. Not too long now. :)

Re: The Strogaloft - Construction Begins... Again!

Hey guys, cheers for the comments. I've been plugging away this week, still gluing down wire mesh to form the hills around the motorway bridge. Should finish that tonight and then I can get mod-rocking ! Last night I did a good bit of rail-painting, so I now have a large amount of ballasting to do! ...

Excellent stuff mate. Great attention to detail, its little things like the lads pushing the van that make this such a great layout.

Also, I think that fencing looks very good !

Re: The Strogaloft - Construction Begins... Again!

Well, thanks to Bufferstops genius little plan, my shorting problem is fixed ! A small strip of brown parcel tape on the rail and the problem is solved! Took a bit of trial and error to find exactly where the short was... Great stuff. Good thing about brown tape is that it blends into the trackwork ...

Re: The Strogaloft - Construction Begins... Again!

Hi Bufferstop, thanks for the suggestion! Great idea that I'd have never thought of! I have only just closed-up the loft, but will definately give that a crack this week.

Nice one :-)
