Some more painting progress :D

I've repainted, renumbered and weathered one of my class 50s. I'm very pleased with the results and feel I have corrected most of the original hornby paint issues, such as the blue, grey, oversize numbers, shiny metal wheels and rubbish weathering.

The second thing i've been working on isn't actually mine! A friend from work who is an N gauge modeller asked me if I could weather his farish class 60. I accepted but was a little nervous as I have never worked with N gauge before. I was very impressed with level of detail and nice mechanism. I've weathering it into a typical example of the class in the mid 2000s. I'm very pleased with how it came out and fortunately my friend was very happy with it to 8)

My hornby 60 looks so much bigger parked next to it :)

What a great result on the 50 (and the 60 is none too shabby also ;-) )

I can see you've really got to grips with your airbrush. The NSE livery looks quite tricky to do, did you use any special techniques when masking ?

I take it you plan to weather the rest of your locos, I bet the 58 will look good when you get around to it.

Your Class 60 Looks like a 'O' gauge model next to your friends 'N' gauge Class 60. Great work on the Class 50 by the way. :)

Thanks for the feedback guys 8)

The NSE on the 50 was quite difficult to do, I used tamiya masking tape to get a nice edge. It's expensive but has never let me down when painting tamiya radio control cars. My friends 60s is now back on his layout and running well, he will me giving me his dapol class 67 to do next :)

Next victim for the layout will be my other 50 and the NSE coaches. Then I will move onto weathering some of my other locos such as the 60 and 58.

Hi guys

I have now painted furious and it has come out well. On Howe I used railmatch NSE dark blue paint, it dried with a very fury finish and the colour didn't match my NSE coaches. The solve this I took matters into my own hands and mixed my own pot of NSE dark blue using a combo of gloss enamels. This improved the look of Howe a lot but didn't solve the finish and colour issue completely.

When I started on Furious I used my own NSE paint from the start, the colour is almost a perfect match for my coaches and the finish is super smooth :D . The carrier film on the transfers also disappeared thanks to the smooth finish. I am still pleased with Howe and will continue to run it for the time being, but it will eventually be re-done to the standard of furious.

Some pics below - the lighting is poor so I will be taking some better pics another time.

I've been weathering 58s recently. My friend wanted me to weather his N gauge 58 so I thought I would weather mine too. 58s worked with coal most of their lives so as you can see they are far too clean. Using some pics as reference I have now got them looking nice and grubby :D
