Quick update, The surface mounted point motors work perfecf when not attatched to the track :? :? There are faulty Surface Mounted motors around as i got a faulty one. It works on its own but isn't strong enough to power the point. The best thing to do is take it back to the shop and buy a peco sur...

If you are interested, I've found some suitable leaded solder with flux that doesn't need cleaning. Leaded Solder

That locomotive shed/depot looks as though it needs to be on a layout . Is the light coming from the shed a Yellow LED or is it a bulb?

Make sure that the controller is plugged into the power clip and that is plugged into the track, preferably in a curve that is away from the points and is not trapped by points. If you've checked these, make sure there isn't a bit of metal on the track as it would short the controller instantly. And...

Actually it is 16 volts ac.

what about the scalescenes roads??? that way you can have as many as you want.

i don't think it will short out the select as the power strip has an onboard fuse, if it does short it out, use a seperate power supply of about 16volts dc (like a hornby older train controller and transformer) or get a hornby 4amp power supply for the select.

i think it is about 1/0.2 wire in the point motors as it kept slipping out of my terminal block. The 7/0.2 wire stays in fine.

I thought that i should point out that the attached wires on the hornby surface mounted point motors aren't as thick as 7/0.2 wire. it is much much thinner. On the normal point motors, they are 7/0.2 to 16/0.2

Maplins is a good source of LEDs, the lucky bags are quite good, but it will be better for you to get the velleman value pack as the LEDs are the same
