A few minor things done around the layout. Household Authorities wanted Christmas lights up in the street? IMG_3188.JPG A broken point at the engine shed has been replaced with a three way point. IMG_3187.JPG Some forklift trucks have been acquired. Suitable placement to be found. Photos later. Glen...

Re: British Railways in 1948

My late mother worked as a goods booking clerk in Middlesbrough from 1938 to 1951. She once told me that at midnight on 31/12/47 all of the locos in the area blew their whistles for several minutes, to welcome BR into existence. Those were the days when public ownership was seen as a Good Thing! No...

A busy time in the factories. Lights blazing as the night shift is nearly ending. The early morning Leeds, Scarcroft & Wetherby Rlwy passenger train has arrived at Sovereign Street. IMG_3185.JPG IMG_3192.JPG The night shift has ended. The morning shift will start work soon. A northbound LSWR fre...

Re: 6x4ft GWR beginning layout

feels more like improvisation when doing the scenery rather than a set technique I'm like that. I plan out where the buildings and other structures are going, and then sort of make it up as I go along with the spaces in between. Me too. :) I remember ( some time ago) saying "The scenery was th...

The trouble when the son arrives and takes a liking to a building or two! Somehow Winterwood Manor has appeared on his layout and he left me this? IMG_3180.JPG I shake my head in bewilderment. The only saving grace (if there is one) at a recent model show my granddaughter bought me (with my money?) ...

Re: Blue Sky sidings

After the first running session, I found this layout boring. Another false start I guess... A little 'food for thought ' for you, Montfort. A while back, whilst living near Kielder, I made a little layout on an old ironing board. Using five points it had a station, run-round facility, an eng...

next: Something you've done on your layout, sat back and admired it.

Taking a couple of minutes looking down the line.
