Hi Jim. Your last layout was exceptional modelling, but you knew its limitations when running trains etc.

I have confidence in you building the new layout that you will be really proud of.

Looking forward to further instalments.

Re: Gateside and Northbridge - It begins at last!

Hi Jim. Like Ex-Pat I have never had such challenges. It's just 'A job to be done. Get on with it' otherwise I would never get anything done. You've come this far, Jim, feel the fear and do it anyway. After all fear is only man made. Before you know it trains to Gateside and Northbridge will be runn...

More important 'How do you like it?' Imo 'Great'. A railway that is 'somewhere' and not just on a board Just tone the blue down to white with a tinge of blue, unless you put white fluffy clouds on. The look you really want is the one you see as you look to the sky tomorrow. If it is raining, fantast...

Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street on a 1914/1919 theme

Thanks Lachute.

The backscene is a bit of a mishmash, but will do until I find the right pictures.

The main thing about Clarence Dock is, if I want to run trains for half and hour it is easily set up and running.
The fun thing is, that half hour is much longer.

Re: Shunting layout & branch line terminus

This is the last version (and my favorite !) of my very personal track mat for my small shunting layout & branch line terminus. I'm very happy with the result. CAUTION: NOT TO SCALE ! 17.jpg Looking much better than the other greens. :) Have a go at a backscene. A pale blue sky that is almost w...

Re: The East Westmorland Railway

Glad you like the book, captrees. It is a favourite of mine. Maybe I’ll just add a branchline to Marthwaite. After all, Marthwaite is at the foot of my backdrop. Hey, I even went to school there. Jenkinson’s genius is in inventing a line that doesn’t exist, through an area that does. I would questio...

Re: Steam Trains to Sovereign Street on a 1914/1919 theme

Sometimes when one feels like having a different train running session, Clarence Dock comes to the fore. One or two coach steam trains run from Leeds Central to Clarence Dock. The engine runs round the coaches and hooks up for the return journey. The 'fun' really starts when goods trains are running...

A Rule 1 layout that has a mix of all kinds all stirred and placed seemingly wherever. Wherever indeed? No matter where, it works.
Well done.

Thanks for the explanation and videos, GeraldH.

As for the Consett Iron Co wagon I have one also. It is more sentimental as I have family connections there. :)

Re: Reusable, modular layout base in N-gauge

This layout is not one I have been following much. (Too small for me.) N Gauge in the landscape is rarely done well. Some layouts have lots of trackwork, because they have the space. Therefore imo spoiling the effect. This is different. (Still too small  ) but it is nice to see a 'right balance...
