Once again I look at pics and think that looks great and a long street too!
Then someone states that there is a mirror half way down the street.
Once again I say great idea, but I never noticed!!!!!

Same here. Very impressive, and of course it's a proper railway (Southern)peak wrote:Once again I look at pics and think that looks great and a long street too!

Thanks for your comments everyone - the mirror trick was one I picked up from M.Levin's 'Levington' - I saw it and had to have it !
Mumbles: Inspiration for the station is generic really. I looked at Southampton, Woking, Surbiton, Wimbledon etc and then came up with my own interpretation of what those architects may have devised if they'd been given the remit of designing the station at Victory Road. I'm a fan of Art-Deco anyway - so have a bit of an eye for the salient points. At some point I'll build a Northern Line underground Station in Charles Holden style - this more than anything else will give a real South London feel to the layout.
Raider: I'll take some pictures of the layout as a whole at the weekend - not sure what the quality will be like though as they'll have to be a mobile phone job. I did spend some time on planning the layout to look as uncluttered as possible - paying particular attention to sight-lines and viewing angles. It was one of the main reasons for redesigning the yard earlier in the year.
Spavo: Yes - the curved platforms have been the biggest headache of my life because if you look closely at the first picture in my post - you'll notice on the right the tracks are not only on a curve - but on an incline as well, double trouble ! I didn't want the incline to be too obvious as stations are usually built on the level (although I noticed Greenwich has an incline at the down end of the platform). BTW - don't say good-bye to N gauge Spavo - how about just au revoir ?
Anyway - thanks again.

Hi
Looks wonderful. I think you have definately tapped into a rich seam of nostalgia with this one! Everything so far looks absolutely spot-on with that station.
As for the Underground station, have you any in particular in mind? Something like my old station, Tooting Bec? Or, dare I suggest, something more ambitious like Morden?
Either way, should be good
Cheers

The picture of the M7 with the milk train - I think you've really caught the atmosphere of the typical South London mainline stations, especially the buildings in the background, and the concrete fencing on the platform. As a former Tooting Broadway resident, I can vouch for this.
