Re: Vertical curve radius?

The drag from a curve can easily cause wheel slip. A curve on a climb can become impossible depending on the locomotive and stock you want to lift up the gradient. I recall a club layout where 3 coaches was impossible, 2 with a good traction loco would just do. One guy I knew fitted a magnetic under...

Re: Hello everyone.

Good Evening Simon, Welcome aboard. A Work - Life balance is quite important, O.K I'm a rebel and once told a boss that I was too busy outside work to be interested in my career !! 'O' gauge is good, but you need space, the one thing that most of us struggle with. Interesting that you intend to buil...

More done on the Letov S-20 aircraft model. Showing the National flag style insignia that was in use during 1925. I've still to fix a large squadron insignia on the fuselage sides, but have left that and the final painting to the very end as it was my 'handling' location. https://i.ibb.co/BrDKHKK/IM...

Ahh, Another question.
How long is "Some time"
To my dismay mine extends to around 11 years.

Pleased to see you ashore again

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

No Problem Pete,

We all miss sending replies from time to time. Thanks due though.

I've fitted couplings to the Slaters wagon and a small sponge brake to test
with the Kadees, works fine, ready for painting.
I've been so pleased that I'll be doing more in the near future.

Re: The North Circular - Austerity & Nostalgia.

What ??? 5 Months since the last posting in this thread. Left behind ? not really, but I had to do the work on this outdoors and what has the weather been like for the last 5 months - awful. The iceberg, or styrene build up was requiring a considerable build up of wall plaster. My old bag had gone o...

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Hi Bigmet, I'm just too kind hearted, things will have to be organised. Just DON'T ask about the current railway club committee, organisation ??? Anyway regardless of that, at least I have the keys for tomorrows public meet. Right the Slaters kit : It's been great, pretty much everything has fitted ...

Re: Failure and restarting

Germany & unusual laws. With scale model aircraft you can't have the German Swastika full stop !! My Czech friends had to stick small pieces of paper over the markings when on display at the German Aviation Museum at Gatow. Right behind them was a WWII German aircraft - Yes with correct markings...

Re: DCC Sound advice sought

I'm not heavily into sound, but would tend to use Zimo.
The club's sound nutter thinks they are best. My hearing is
rubbish now - Kate Bush & Minni Riperton no longer have
me running for the off button, or door !!

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Phred, Laughter is the best start to any day, and you got me going !! As to weights I did think about using £2 coins, with banks looking at charging for having an account I though 600 wagons with say 2 coins, that's nigh on 2.5K very safe, only access could be mentally painful. It would make the fam...

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Hi Bigmet, Always a degree of swirl, I may be drifting back towards doing more aircraft. In the meantime I decided to start a new kit, my first 'Slaters' kit and I like what I have. I tend to think of Slaters for 'O' gauge, but they do a few '00' models. My choice was a LM to LMS 10 Ton van. I wante...

Stoke Mandeville, that brings back some memories of the modellers exhibitions
in the Hospital back in the 1990's.
Wish I lived nearer, or do I ? as I have little doubt I would be spending some
money at more than one trader !!

When a few people said "Railway Modelling" is dead after the closure of Hatton's. Many of us said what rubbish, emphatically so !! Well something is wrong in the world, it MUST be, as here we are with no fresh postings in this thread for nigh on a Month. This is the Workbench - the place t...
