Re: Scratch Building a Station Building
I know so many of you will have been unable to sleep wondering if I ever got round to finishing my station building so I thought I better finally do an update. The answer is still no, I still haven't finished it yet, so much for that original competition deadline, but while I have been recovering fr...

Lms coaches
To introduce some variety in colour to my locos plus the fact it looks gorgeous I am getting very tempted by the bachmann crimson lake patriot that is on offer at rails. The question is what coaching stock should I pair with it? Have got some carmine and cream mk1's but think they are too late in er...

Re: Sending locos to Bachmann for repairs
Have had very mixed experience with Bachmann service department, last time I sent a loco back it was with them for months, they were experiencing staff problems/shortages and when it finally came back I had to send it straight back again as the motion was binding. Cost me a fortune in postage. i loo...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout
Agree with the comments above, some great modelling, I love the bridge in particular. What did you use for your shop interior? Is it all scratch built? I am trying to detail the inside of my station building at the moment and it is taking ages scratch building everything, just wondered if you had us...

Re: Shuntig Puzzle wiring Problem
Plus have a look at Brian Lamberts website, explains everything really simply with lots of diagrams. Got me through writing up my layout including an electrofrog double slip on dcc and I am no electrician either.

Re: Shuntig Puzzle wiring Problem
How are you switching the polarity of the frog? Via a point motor or a switch?

Re: Hornby L1 front truck
Cheers for looking, if you do any quick fixes on the front pony truck I would be interested to know how they go, especially with a picture or two to make it easier for me to understand. Or is there a link to where you found it and were there pictures?
Thanks
Jonathan
Thanks

Re: Hornby L1 front truck
I have has a L1 for a while and not had any problems with the front pony derailing, it just doesn't look very good the way it flops about on the corners. If there is an easy fix I would like to know as lately I have taken to running it bunker first so it looks better.
Sounds like you got a bargain.

Re: Scratch Building a Station Building
made a little bit of progress, has taken me a long time to make the little progress I have, seems to take ages cutting all these little pieces of microstrip. Have added the quoins round the corners of the building, not 100% happy with how they look, but I guess they are always going to look a bit st...

Re: DCC Point motor, silent and easy to install
DCC for my trains, old fashioned switches and analogue for the point motors. Didn't fancy the cost of doing the points by DCC too, plus I like having a control panel with the switches on.

Re: DCC Point motor, silent and easy to install
I used cobalt motors on my layout, they are easy to install and can be used to control the frog polarity but they are not silent, mine make quite a loud whirring noise when switching. Think you can buy foam adhesive pads to use to stick them to your boards but didn't use them so I don't know how muc...

Re: Scratch Building a Station Building
so the end of December has arrived and I have got no where near finishing my building. Don't think I have done much at all since my last update, been too busy with Christmas. 2 young kids and Christmas doesn't leave much spare time. This picture shows where I am at right now. Hopefully I will get it...
