Re: Hornby Railroad Plus Class 110
Last issue of the 110 with the 5 pole ringfield is as far as I can tell exactly the same, and I'm not convinced the limby motor is any better then the 5 pole ringfield. They can be had for about 100 quid less than these. The biggest bug bear of all of the 110s, no matter when they were made though a...

Re: Locos which are not split chassis, but also not DDC ready
Both my J15 and 700 class struggle with adhesion, but I wonder in reality how strong these engines were being so dainty? I have thought about doing that old trick of making the front of the tender bear down on the rear of the loco to increase the weight on the rear drivers, but its a roundtoit at th...

I must be getting old. I barely understood a single word of that!RAF96 wrote:Range has been proven to 45 m, but each static or mobile node at full stretch will extend that range by mesh relay say for garden railway use.

Re: Identifying an A4
Think I've sussed it. Hornby did a limited edition of Sir Nige in the 90s as it was preserved at the time, and for some odd reason somebody has put a body from one of those on a black wheeled chassis.

Re: Identifying an A4
That's an ex Hornby Dublo version made by Wrenn and sold under the Triang-Wrenn branding (little w after the date), but yes like that but with black wheels. This one however is a tender drive Hornby 80s or 90s version. Unfortunately Hornbyguide doesn't cover a lot of the made for other companies mod...

Re: New Class 59
Well my 59 turned up at last and I'm gobsmacked by it. The level of detail and the quality of the detail is as good if not better than the very best bachmann locos I've seen to date, and it cost quite a bit less than £150 delivered. If Dapol can do that, then why can't anybody else?

Identifying an A4
I bought several unboxed Margate era locos recently. One of them is a model of Sir Nigel Gresley in LNER Blue without side valences and oddly black wheels (loco and tender) I suspect this might be an ex set model from a clothes catalogue or Argos or something like that. It has other oddities too, li...

Re: New Class 59
I got just one small item from Royal Mail today which is a joke. God only knows what they're doing. At this rate they're going to need a lorry just for my stuff alone! LOL

Re: New Class 59
Bought mine when they were first in stock from ROS, but it seems that Royal Mail have declared where I live as the badlands as I've not had any mail whatsoever for two weeks, so god only knows where it is now!

Re: Was I Wrong About The Hornby 9F? | Sam'sTrains Live
I believe that motor has been used in just about every new hornby loco in the last few years and is prone to quality control issues. I have an S15 and a B12 with that motor and they both run perfectly, however a mate has an HST with one and it was junk from day 1. If you go on aliexpress you can bu...
