Caledonian Railway 439 0-4-4T

Email from Rails just now announcing that they have teamed up with Bachmann to produce the 439 0-4-4T in variety of liveries.

Due 2027, non DCC for £185, DCC £295

That's another pre-ordered! Been an amazing few weeks for Scottish Modellers.

And the especially good news is that Bachmann have a proven mechanism layout and body construction to place the centre of mass within the coupled wheelbase for stable traction. Their G5 is a jewel in this respect, and hopefully the 439 will perform likewise.

Is this the first Scottish design tank loco to get a current standard RTR OO model announcement? (I have trouble keeping up with all the activity from so many brands!)

the G5 is indeed very nice, and very reliable, if they copy the mechanism from that this one should be very good
