State of the art in 1955

Post by Ken Shabby »

I was clearing out some old issues of Railway Modeller, and ended up reading and deciding to keep them.
This ad is from the oldest issue I have, November 1955.

Has anyone come across one of these before ?
I'm assuming it's mainly made of wood rather than plastic..
I had a look online without success.

And you still have to find the 'suitable' motor bogie, if you want a running result without the trouble of building a mechanism; although a great many modellers at that time would have considered building a DIY mechanism the normal thing to do.

What scale is it, does the ad make it clear?
The photo reproduction is admirably crisp for the period, makes me think O gauge

Of course the power bogie is part of the deal, and way better than any such from 1955, if that softens the blow for anyone thinking 'Ooh me like'?
