Not how sure 3d printing counts as scratch building, and its not a kit but to coin a modern teenager "yeah like whatever"
experiment to see how well my Mars 3 4k printer can handle OO scale bricks
this is just with a quick layer of Vallejo model colour "Cavalry Brown" which is the nearest to a brick colour I have over it, wants another coat, gloss varnish and a light oil wash for mortar doing.
this is literally a test bit, doesn't even have a door and only has the window as I was curious to see how the lintel printed.
will update further when its got a bit more paint

Re: Bricks & walls
first run, gloss varnish then an acrylic wash, result is "so-so" but it works, oil will be better but for a test this will do. shows there is enough depth to get the effect to work at least, just need to work more on the actual colours
needs a more terracotta look to the base, and also some variations with hints of a more orange as well as darker etc

Re: Bricks & walls
I'm pleased with it, next step is probably a small brick hut or something, size limited to what can be done in one part, need to work out a practical way to do window frames, thinking print as separate parts, ditto doors, to paint and fit later to make painting the bricks easiercentenary wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 8:58 pmLooks very good to me!aleopardstail wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:55 am first run, gloss varnish then an acrylic wash, result is "so-so" but it works, oil will be better but for a test this will do. shows there is enough depth to get the effect to work at least, just need to work more on the actual colours

Once upon a time I built a model railway in the loft. Now I dabble on much smaller baseboards.
