Point’s refurbishment.

Post by Johnmay »

Hi
I have about 10 sets of oo points that no longer snap into place . I’ve had a tinker with them myself but haven’t been able to repair any of them. Just wondering if there’s a service available anywhere to send them out for refurb ?. I suspect it would be cheaper to replace them but just thought I’d ask.
Regards John.

Sounds like the springs on the tiebar have either failed, gone missing etc. Contact the Peco Technical Bureau and tell them exactly which points you have and how many. They will then send you replacement springs FOC for you to fit. I think they ask for an SAE to send them back - small padded envelope for example.

They're easy to fix to simple points and can be done in situ. Slips are more complex as the springs are underneath.

Plenty of advice on how to do it, such as this Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1DM1-Yzt5o
