Mystery CCT

Post by JillyP »

Hi all........I came across this Wagon in a box of stuff that my better half brought home from a table top sale. I think it’s early 1900s but no idea of manufacturer.... can anyone assist?
Thank you.

The couplings hint at it being Hornby O gauge and the fact it's LNWR would make it pre 1925 or there abouts.

It is O Gauge, I’ve checked Hornby as much as I can and no trace. Someone mentioned Carret (?) for Bassett Loake but again, no luck.

Think that's Hornby, Basset Lowke was rather more sophisticated. Any trace of a 'Meccano' label on the underside? Interesting that 'Mulliner' the famed coachbuilder is mentioned. The people to consult are Hornby Railways Collectors Association, HRCA. https://www.hrca.net/

Leeds Model co also made tinplate 0 gauge. It could be one of theirs.

Not sure if it's any help but I found this under the Darstaed brand as Mulliner was perviously mentioned.

An aside to the thread. Information on Carette (as mentioned in my previous post).
