Tetrion

Post by Firefly16 »

Usually mentioned as a scenic material, Tetrion is useful for fine detail work. I decided to experiment with this useful DIY filler before embarking on the construction of a new chimney for a just bought incomplete King Arthur (a snip at just over £60). I fitted a roughly made rim and saddle of 10thou styrene to a core of tubing reclaimed from a domestic cleaner bottle, then packed the space between them with Tetrion so that it was flush with their edges. When dry, the filler was filed to an approximation of the required profile then given a thin film of superglue to smooth off the 'textured' look. With a coat of Humbrol 33 matt black, this rough prototype promises well for the chimney proper when this is finished.
