Hattons Plasser 12t crane

Post by D605Eagle »

Interesting announcement from Hattons. These cranes are extremely complicated with lots of little detailing features. I must say I was quite surprised at the price. £69. Makes you wonder how £100 more can be justified for a loco that's far less complicated.

I suspect that part of the answer may lie in the 'static jib' listed in the product spec. so it is not moveable/poseable. So it is a wagon with an integral load, considered as a model. The whole topside may be just a few plastic mouldings with applied detail. No motor, wiring and drive train to add cost in all of design, parts procurement, prototype testing, production assembly and test that push up the price of locos..
