Hi, I'm new here and to model railways in general. Well, not really, I had a TT-scale train set when I was a teenager, but I never did much with it.

Right now, I am dabbling with H0 gauge (technically 00, but I'll get rid of those locos and switch to H0) on a small-ish table (6x4ft). Just want to get a nice layout going on it . that can entertain me and my daughter for a bit. Somewhere down the line we'll find or create a bigger space for the model railway stuff.

On the technical side, I've opted for DCC and went with an NCE PowerCab for my controller. Also playing around with JMRI via the NCE USB interface.

Well, there weren't too many choices, unless I was willing to import a system and deal with an overseas supplier in case of a defect or warranty claim I was eyeballing the Z21 but there was absolutely no local supplier for that.

I grew up in East Germany, where TT was one of the prevalent scales.

As in proper TT not the weird Triang version with track gauge scaling at four feet nothing.

(East) German TT is 1:120 scale with a track gauge of 12mm. The Brits were doing their own weird stuff there. But funny enough, TT in Russia was apparently 1:130.

The only thing they got right about UK TT was the scale 1:100. Such an obvious choice, It now has its own band of supporters using 14.2mm gauge track.

Its a very practical size for those who have limited space. I've noticed Elaine's Trains has a stock of TT gauge items as she is a Triang specialist, so anyone looking to expand their TT collection, it is worth a look!

I'm an ex Brit (Pom) tho I've only been here 12 years. I'm in Post code 2710 ( Mathoura), and based about 45K north of Echuca Moama. It's not sunny now, it's winter.

I've been into G scale, 1:20.3--1:22.5. I'm just about to start selling it all on Flea Bay. I got diagnosed with a Brain Aneurysm, deep joy and totally ****. So I'm switching to ON30. I'm on Lenz DCC so I'll be doing that. My Mum still lives in the UK, Basingstoke ( yes someone lives there) She doesn't know it yet, but I'm going to ask her to buy and send me stuff from the UK. Australia is a great country, but sometimes it can take a while for things in the UK to get here ie. Peco Smart switch.

My real name is Pete, Electraman because I play Microsoft Flight sim SE. My favourite plane I fly alot is a Lockheed L188 Electra.

I doubt "mum" can compete with the box shifters like Hattons for postage cost!
Hattons £11.10 Royal Mail. Non western Europe. Air Mail "Signed for". Weighs between 0501g and 800g when packed. Avg 5 working day transit time.
And of course there are cheaper/other options for Servo point motors like MERG, Megapoints, Arduino, etc
