Widnes Model Centre

Post by Lancastrian »

Firstly my only interest with Widnes Models is that I am a very satisfied customer.

They have been having problems with their Web providers and such their new web address from 2nd July 2017 will be changed to
http://widnesmodelcentre.co.uk/ They also have a Facebook account.

For a trial period they are opening late on Wednesdays until 8pm to help commuters from Runcorn and Liverpool.

Wherever possible always support your own model shops.

I have just gone to their website & had a quick look at it.

I`m sure they have their reasons & that`s fine.
but for me it`s definitely not my kind of website. Once i find a website like that I don`t really go to it again.

I like to see what stock they actually carry, what categories prices etc.

Their reasons will very likely be cost. It costs thousands of pounds to design and hundreds of pounds a month to operate an EPOS webstore that is secure each month and available 24 / 7.

It's not designed to be an online sales site. It's basically a listing so that if someone googles 'model shops near me' their details will pop up and tell you what sort of things they sell, where they are, contact details etc.

As Centenary said, the cost of a full-on interactive website can be staggering.

Many model shops use ebay as their online shop. Hence the amount of new releases on ebay are not as many think some purchasers trying to quickly sell on but rather a model shop listing their new arrivals.

I've also noticed some shops with their own quite sophisticated online shops selling on eBay. The funny thing is, I have at times bought items on eBay from such shops for much cheaper than the price offered on their own website. :?:
