Train shows IN the U.S.

Anybody know of OO train or club shows in the USA especially on the east coast?

Never having been to America, I can't speak from experience, but a good place to start looking would be 'Schedule of Events' in the Classified Advertising pages of 'Model Railroader' (www.ModelRailroader.com) copies of which might be found in your local W. H. Smith. The February number of this interesting and informative magazine contained a number of Florida-based events if that isn't too far South; these, of course, would have been HO scale. Hope this helps.

I have not seen any OO at any shows I have ever attended on the east coast that I have ever attended. Even though I seem to be by myself when it comes to UK steam engines I'm still having fun.

American railroading seems to be on a different scale to us, apart from the OO/HO difference. As noted already the Model Railroader seems to the one to look at. There are a couple of travelling train shows that tour the US so you have to be in the right place at the right time.

I haven't managed one of these big shows myself but many Clubs have open days, and, in the case of one I visited in Tampa a couple of years ago they had an associated sale with traders and club members alike. I bought a load of Barr Mills laser cut building kits and had a look at a tri-level HO layout plus a huge N gauge layout in the clubhouse. A good chance to chew the fat with members as well.

The modular layouts seem to be popular in the US and they have meets to set up, and as they come from all over they can be huge. The American market is so well catered for I think these shows are pretty big.
