Shed Layout

Post by Sinx682 »

I am wondering whether a layout in a shed is one way around my lack of space in the house
- would it need to be insulated?
- would it need to be kept heated all the time?
- would the damp air affect the tracks?
Does anyone have any advice, for or against?
Thanks

My layout is in the house but we do have an office in a cabin in the garden. It's built of three inch thick interlocked pine timbers and only needed the roof to be insulated. Due to the huge amount of paperwork, we need to avoid damp so we have an Ebacs dehumidifier running on auto and dampness is not a problem. The first couple of years we needed a small heater which kicked in when the temperature hit six degrees, but since then we have gained two computers which need to be on 24/7 and provide all the background heating we need. So I'd say a well insulated shed, with a door that fits in the frame (not your typical shed door) and a dehumidifier with perhaps one very small anti frost heater would be an ideal environment for a layout.

Thanks for the replies.
Certainly food for thought, although my lack of DIY skils might push the costs up ... and those sheds are way out of my league!
