Peco N gauge st-7 crossing problem! wont fit!

Hi there,

Can anyone help me cause im abit lost, im laying out a n gauge set track plan that is in the peco settrack track plans booklet and the crossing st7 does not seem to work. the attached image is not possible as the st7 crossing can not be used to get track that runs alongside each other straight, it runs at an angle, has anyone got any advice?

I had the same problem. It's because the angle of the crossing is 25 degrees, while the turnout's angle is 22.5 degrees. None of the track plans with the ST-7 crossing work.

Substitute the ST2 going from ST5 to ST7 with a bit of flexi track

I know it's only a sketch, viewed on a screen but even the join between the ST-7 and the following ST-12 doesn't appear to work.

The difference may be 2.5 degrees but that plan can be made to work. Have a look at the layout Smallman28 produced, it's a lovely example of how to make a track plan book based layout.

i know i have a bee in my bonnet about the st7, but it is SUPPOSED to be setrack, and therefore work in the way peco say it should, and from their own publications, they believe it does!!!! but it doesnt, they should change the geometry immediately.

I think that is an optical illusion!

I agree completely. I couldn't understand why they designed it with the geometry they did. Hornby's track is a good example of how it should work.

Having said that, the Code 55 stuff does work very well indeed. I just swapped out a small point for a double slip and didn't have to cut any of the adjoining track...
