locos in the snow
Hi
Just been taking some pics on my snow scene, I won't suggest you can't spot the real one, but I think the two compare quite well:

That Class 33 (I think?) in the very first photo is scary speed fast!
Pass me the bucket!Sorry Pete, I reckon you've double posted that picture !
Seriously, looks good Pete. Interesting that the original coach had snow on it. It must have been cold!

No this was just a bit of fun, I'm not sure now if I'm going to do a snow layout, it's very difficult to keep the track running smooth as the snow powder has a gritty texture, and points would be a nightmare. I might go for a light dusting on my next layout, but certainly not a white-out.Are you thinking of trying to fix snow to the top of coaches or wagons?

Cor nice looking pics there Pete, really like that snow effect, those Thunderbox coaches look good. I'm not being picky but I think the first one is a post war DB scene as opposed to your obvious DRG one, though I may be wrong, I'm not sure when 3rd class was phased out. But still looks great, nice weathering on that coach, would quite like to see a good colour pic of it if you have one. It's amazing the effects you can get with N-Gauge.Pete wrote:

By the way here's a great link to a site that gives some good tips on achieving a snow effect, you might have seen it:

Keep up the good werke!

(Sorry didn't get many replies last night, so I thought I'd stir up enthusiasm, maybe not enough woodwork on show)

If I can devise a better way of doing the track it'll be back on. The problem is that the powder is very gritty, it sticks to the inside flange of the rail and is very difficult to remove, this will be a big problem with my intended code 55 track. I've not given up on the idea 100% it's just on a back burner at the moment, I am still not sure what to do with my new layout, I have so many temptations:
An HO French layout, a l mainline German layout possibly in the snow, something Japanese, and I've even toyed with a US themed layout
I'll get the framework up during the summer and then make a desicion.
