Before laying all that flexitrack, you really should have got yourself a TrackSetta

you mean underlay? or to check that the curves are not too tight etc? I have already tested all the track with mk4s and an A4 segaull which has a 4 wheel tender. No problems were found

That layuot is gonna be fun to operate with all those loops and sidings. What's the overall size? You should be able to get some nice long trains on there.

thanks engineer dave i do have a load of full rake trains ready, ie 225 intercity with 2x 1st 1x buffet and 5x 2nd + DVT. full 125 Intercity set too aswell as loads of others. overall size is about 11ft x 3ft. going to be a pain putting in all the points, but def worth it

Just to let you know the 225s have always been 9 mk4s and a DVT, not 8.

Formed as follows.

Standard formation;
91-TSO(e)-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-BUF1-TFO-TFO-DVT

Pullman formation;
91-TSO(e)-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-BUF1-TFO-TFO-TFO-DVT

Mallard formation;
91-TSO(e)-TSO-TSO-TSO-TSO-BUF2-TFO-TFO-TFO-DVT

TSO(e) = Trailer Standard Open (end vehicle, one corridor gangway only)
TSO = Trailer standard Open
TFO = Trailer First Open
BUF1 = Buffet 1st class (not official classification)
BUF2 = Buffet 2nd class (not official classification)

Looks like it will be a good layout though.

The TrackSetta allows you to get absolutely straight track when laying flexitrack
Your layout has a lot of kinks in the straights

i stand corrected with the 225 formation. tahnks i will have to invest in another 1st class mark four i think . i get what you mean about the straight track i will do what i can now but i like to add a tiny bit of kink to it so it doesnt look too fake.

I thought the kinks in the tracks were intentional, as it looks as though tracks remain parallel through the kinks. It does look more life like to me.

yeah was the idea, but i must admit some areas could do with straigtening up.

Another N Gauger! We seem to be in greater numbers of late.

Cracking start... I dare say the kinks in the track will look more natural when it's all ballasted... There's a high contrast between your black track and wooden baseboard which makes it stand out right now.

Either way, I'll be checking back to see your progress!

i know n gauge is increasing big time. so many auctions on ebay. im going to get the layout out with some locos on it to give an impression of the rollingstock i will be running.

Got major problem, like a plonker i put ballast down without protecting my points. SKipping to the chase is there any easier way of getting the glue free rather than going at it carefully with a screw driver? i have already managed to fully free one point. Thankfully there are only 5 other points like it.





Any suggestions welcome, also i thought i would display my entire layout collection apart from some engines that are getting repaired and some coaches + engines that have not arrived off ebay yet.

the 225 and 125 i have, even though the 125 engine is in repairs, i have had for over 16 years got them when i was 7
