Horsted Keynes - Bluebell Railway Layout.

Post by mattmay05 »

Hi all

I thought I would post a few pictures of my layout, which is based on the Bluebell Railway and the station of Horsted Keynes. Some details are still to be added, and I hope one day to extend the layout as we are due to move in the not to distant future.

The layout has 5 platforms, 2 main platforms, and 2 bay platforms, and 1 siding platform.

The railway was built on a Budget, hence some of the dodgy work. The signels are Hornby which i modified to make them look a bit more real. Station buildings are card superquick I think, Station boards were made from matchsticks and lolly sticks, Trees are seam foam but left bare.

Points will I hope soon to be powered, point motors are fitted.

Rolling stock is based on the Bluebell, all coaches or most of them are southern, main locos, are a schools v class, and an N class.

Ive made a website if any are interested, for updates and developments, and also visits from people.

Here are some images from around the layout.

Thanks very much

Yes these were Hornby signels. which i modified to make them look a little more real as im on a budget so I didnt the best I would with what I had.

All i did.. was to take the metel base off, Trim off the clips on the base, mask off 30 - 35 mm from the bottom, spray black. Then drill a hole i think it was 10 mm diameter, and depending on your baseboard, go 10 mm deep. If you have 10 mm ply like i have, I went all the way though, and put masking tape across the bottom of the hole, then filled with PVA glue, and put the signel in Let it dry and it was stuck very nicely!

Make sure you prop them up straight!
