I've got my enthusiasm back now I have a 2yr old to impress

I was going to do a bit of cleaning up and take some new pictures today until I popped outside and saw this lot

my enthusiasm is not that strong that I'll frezze my butt off



So went back into the warmth to spend some time looking at what Thomas stock I should buy

Don't buy "Emily". Nice to look at, but far too delicate for 'little hands'. Even "James" has suffered at the hands of our 4yo and at £60 a pop, its a lot to take a hit on. The old stalwarts of Percy and Thomas seem the best.

Please can anyone help? I have control panels with gaugemaster controllers, panel mounted, using Peco probe and stud method. I want to make the control panel bigger and fit coloured lights for point direction. I have storage sidings which will have a wall in front and a town built on top. How is it possible to stop trains at a given point in sidings and then send out another train as none of this can be seen??
Hope someone can help me

New life and enthusiasm has been breathed into Pawford with the arrival of the new Trainee Engine Drive Adam.

Once again Pawford has been cleaned up after a couple of years of neglect and the threat of demolition now that Adam is old enough to operate the layout having just celebrated his 3rd birthday and getting Thomas as a Birthday present, progress will now resume

Great to see your layout again Sanctuary, and equally great to see the delight in the face of a three-year-old viewing it. I bet he absolutely loves it

Any plans for work on the layout at all? Or is it all quite happy and just for relaxing running sessions these days?

He loves it and has been onto me for the last year to get it cleaned up and running

The problem is the layout needs to be ballasted but the bit that has been ballasted makes the layout very noisy and plays havoc with the points.

I'm going to get this section up to the standard of the streets and see how that sounds

Hi Sanctuary,

Perhaps it's me, but I can't see the problems with some noise. I don't use or
ever intend to use cork to help quieten what noise I do get. Perhaps because
I don't have a fast roundy-roundy section my trains never run fast enough for
it to become too disturbing. Against that I often shut sound locos down after
an hour .... that can get at me !!

I can also clearly hear prototype wheel noise from 2 miles plus, it seems one of
the inescapable sounds of a railway.

So pleased to see it being used again ...... Trainee looking confident !!

Splendid to see that not only are you back on track yourself but also that "Pawford The Next Generation" is now very much in the making and in (albeit still quite small) safe hands

Don't you just love it when some one calls to see your layout unannounced
Only for it to let you down with a sticking point
It worked like a dream when Adam and I were using it 3 days ago

Used it 3 days ago, but last update posted some ten months ago

For not keeping us up to date, you should be publicly flogged

No excuse except this one

We have been playing with it and not "finishing" it

too many train days and no modelling days

Adam likes to drive the police cars along the platforms and track than do a bit of ballasting

I don't blame him ballasting is a pain in the a...e

Time for an update

Ballasting still not done

No new modelling done unless you include the "modelling" my granddaughters have done cows, pigs and ducks scattered randomly people painted and unpainted

Grandson using it push cars around and race trains.

I suppose it's reverted to what I had at their age a "play thing"

My Oh My Sanctuary,

I have found someone slower than me on layout building ..............
I understand it's not that you don't want it done, it's just that playing
trains can take all the available time once you have running tracks !!

At least my cows, pigs, sheep & such tend to stay in their fields.
