Yesterday I placed an order for name plates "Marilyn" from Narrow Planet.
When they arrive I shall have to do a 'Special' that will almost coincide with
Marilyn's 14th birthday.
This thread can then drift back into obscurity again.

I'll put this one to bed again for a few more years after showing it still lives and
works well, once cleaned.
These are the only still photos added on here since 2017.
I still recall being told that you couldn't get 6 tracks on a 12" wide board that would be
any good.

Hi Josh,

Too true, it doesn't get that much use now. I'm finding that sliding the loft ladder down and
climbing into the loft IS getting harder. Really only noticed it much over the last couple of
years, has to be expected as I'm 80 in May.
The other factor is loft's are cold in winter and unbearably hot in summer. The heat was less
of a deterrent, but this is where ones garage located layout is more amenable
This layout has tended to be where homeless stock is left. I have much tucked away in Stock
Boxes, like 22 of them, but ran out of storage when I inherited Derry's stuff and the collection
now exceeds 600. I have loads of manufacturers boxed stock to sell on and a vast amount of
old non-boxed stuff I want to dispose of after I've taken what I fancy. Obviously with no exhibitions
I've been unable to sell on - taking 14 boxed wagons, mostly Mainline to sell this weekend. At just
£6 each they should go.

Hi Geoff,
Easy for me to say at nearly 40, but Im of the opinion 80 is still young hahaha. But yes I appreciate it really becoming an effort to get up to the loft.
I was only saying to my wife recently after seeing some old photos, remember being around 5 or 6 years old and seeing your grandparents and thinking ' how could a person possibly be older than this, they look like the dinosaurs' and now realising they were mostly in their mid 50s haha.

Gee it sounds like you sure did inherit a lot of stock.
We missed out on our Brisbane model rail show to, I'm hoping it's back this May, I want to try and pick up some milk wagons for my upcoming dairy. Doesn't seem to be much for sale in our local stores. At a pinch I'll try ebay but some of the online stores hump you on postage from the UK. I have bought much from the UK with no issues but looking at milk wagons theyre wanting $40 for a wagon and $70 postage. I fear they've incorporated their lunch at the pub on the way to the post office into their costing.

Funny thing about those loft ladders Geoff, mine seems to be stiffening up at about the same rate as yours

A long time ago I promised that I'd get nameplates 'MARILYN' for, well it's obvious,
my long standing BR Blue Class 06 which has been known a Marilyn almost from
me joining NRM.
She has been a real trouper with very feminine characteristics. She wiggles down
the track, can be a real Blue lady, High maintenance, as tough as nails and although
one of my cheapest locos is a real favourite.
Now as far as I can remember she's been around from before TSP was started, probably
14 this year.
Thanks to glencairn saying where he obtained name plates at Light Railway Stores I
present Marilyn !!





I've even done an as yet unchecked video that may come on later.

If you've noticed one side is not square, a case of superglue grabbing before I was ready. I
say it adds to her character.

Not exactly "Under Construction", but hey, when is a layout finished ?
Probably only when it's dismantled.

I'm copying 100's of gigs of data from disks to pc and it's extremely boring and I needed some light relief so your video was perfect timing.

Coincidently I was down at West Bay on the 28th.
