My MiddleMay in N Scale
Re: My MiddleMay in N Scale
Hello All,a Little update
Well my Lyddle End Collecting Quest has taken a little twist. While the "to get" list was reduced by 1 by the acquisition of a Lovely Road Bridge, which had eluded me for years, the list has grown back out another 2.Im always surprised by another LE popping up that i never knew about, and this is what happened in the last week.Unfortunately what im finding is common LE items are either not selling or prices are low,the more rare ones are bieng snapped up.I barely got to press the buy now button and they were gone.As well i noticed a beautiful stone goods shed that i also havent got is at a bid of over 65 AUD$ with days to go.I have a feeling it might hit 80-100,thats over 40 of English pounds.Too Much for even me.
So if you have any LE items laying around they could be worth $$.
So when the Road Bridge arrives i have a Place pick for it.Although it will be a little hidden,im playing around with using small mirrors
In this pick you see the mirror on the right, and if you look the bottom right side you can just make out the Railway track. This is an reflection.
Because the train is very low going thru this little "canyon" i can see it in the mirror.bit of fluff i know but quite interesting to play around with
Thanks All
Brett

Hello all
Little update on the Saga of my Graham Farish Class 08.
I documented before but as a catch up here's a short summary
1.Bought new for a Whopping 425$ Dcc Sound
2.Put away in Drawer without testing(mistake)
3.6 Months later got out, placed on track but totally unreliable ,cranky and a lemon
4.Contacted Place bought at,but because i had lost receipt refused to discuss and deal with
5.Wrote a letter to Bachmann Europe offering to pay postage there ,if they would inspect it
6.Bachmann A pleasure to deal with,3 weeks later returned with a Detail report of the repair and fixes.
7.Loco still the same.
8.Sent to local repairer with good expierence with this model
9.Returned 3 weeks later saying found 2 problems.
10.at home loco ran better but not totally reliable, with huge problem with derail over points(oh the irony)
11.Shone a torch on and notice a little plastic piece(i think its a handbrake assembly)was catching the plastic guide on the kato point(apparently im not the first to notice)
12.Clipped of the offending plastic piece(oh well!) now loco runs thru points very well
13.Still not totally happy but 80% improvement.
14.Not my place to tell people what to but,but would not recommmend this model.
Documenting for Future buyers having probs.
regards
Brett

there seem to have been a few reports of trouble with this one, badly adjusted pickups being one of the main causes of crap runningBrettG wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 8:46 am Hello all

comes over as poor quality control, hopefully they had enough returns etc that in future they realise its a false economy
Re: My MiddleMay in N Scale
Two different repairers 'fixed' it and yet it's still not fixed.
Such a good-looking little loco as well.

Hello All
Before the main topic today,a little update on the troublesome Class08.
Because it is running a lot better i went back to my initial contact with Bachmann and found something i missed in their Email.
They said the first thing i should look at is the wheels. For some reason the manufacturer had applied some kind of black covering to the wheel surface, and there had been reports this had cause contact problems. When i looked at mine it was hard to tell but there was something there, like a bit of paint.
So i very carefully rubbed some emery over them and then used Contact cleaner on paper and ran the loco over it.Each time i lifted the loco i could see black marks on the paper.HMMMM.
So back on track its no magic bullet but definetly helped.I can now apply sound while iddle then apply power and loco moves more than a few inches.I stopped it then started and did this 6 time before it failed. So im a little more happier.
So on to today. The Coal Mine.(please dont take this too serious, just a bit of fun)
All the parts have arrived, and i have placed them on the layout.Again space is a problem but the first draft is okay.
Horby had made a Loading chute which you see in the middle.Im not sure its for coal TBH.In the catalogue it looks more like its placed against an incline, like a mound of sand or wheat.Anyway its difficult to implement cause it goes nowhere, but i like it.
Here is some pics.

Hello to all,members and viewers
Just noticed the view count has jumped up on all the topics in this forum.Fantastic.
Not much to update ATM,but one of my road upramps just didnt do it,was a bit "square"on the eyes, too much fencing and a bit ugly
Tried to improve and soften the look so made a little more "hill".
An my story for day.
Purchased some Farish scencraft from a Shop In New Zealand, the items they had i hadnt seen here is Aus.
Anyway i asked them would they ship here, and we agreed on a frieght charge, all good.
Weeks went by,nothing.
Today i got a call from a woman in Sydney(900 miles away) saying she found a parcel on her lawn.
Turns out the supplier had got my name right and mobile number, but wrong street number, wrong street, wrong suburb, wrong city, wrong state. Not a bad effort.
Fortunate she was honest and did me a favour and sent it to me,so i gave her a nice present($$).
Best regards All!

Lucky it landed on that woman's lawn!BrettG wrote:

Most people can't be bothered. One of my parcels ended up at an address in Melbourne. Same street address, just wrong city and state. The supplier sent me a replacement but the original was never seen again.

Morning All
Very happy to say the wayward package has arrived with all items in good order.(Thanks Helen!)
So some new additions to Middlemay
5 x Steel wagons,won ebay auction brand new.Not much weight to them,but nicely weathered(something i wouldnt attempt)
Farish Corner Shop and Cottage.Very nice ,much better than i expected,go with the LE stuff nicely.
Finally the Hard to find Road over Bridge LE.You may laugh but it has taken 2 years to find one,in this condition anyway.
Pictures dont convey how nice it is,quite heavy to the hand,Beautiful.Perhaps a tad high than i was expecting which will make it a little difficult to place where i want, but i will have a go.
Thanks ALL!Brett.

Hello all
Placed the new road bridge and cleaned up the Industrial area a bit,bit simpler now.
Trouble is where the bridge went is the meeting of 3 modules,(so i can access below tracks).
When lifting off i always lose something, this time 2 figures disappeared including the narrow boat driver.HA.
And as always have trouble joining or hiding the joint of the 2 pieces of road, tried many things, looks okay to the naked eye,but the camera picks up the tiniest impecfections, and i have many.
Cheers all.

Hello All
A pic of the revamped main village area.Tried to incorporate the ledge station with the village by adding a road and camoulage the wall with some low relief houses

That cliff over the side of the baseboard looks terrifying!
