CavAlex announce the Class 47 in OO as their next loco model. I can hear the howls from people who dont want another 47 model released.
Hopefully, they make a better job of it than Heljan have. But we'll have to wait until Q1 2027!

CavAlex announce Class 47
Re: CavAlex announce Class 47
Let's face it, there's not a huge choice. The purchasers of diesel traction units have a relatively small 'cast list' to choose among, if the really popular subjects that sell in volume have to meet the requirements: long in service, widely distributed classes that were built in hundreds, and carried a very varied range of livery schemes.
Although my interest is Southern end of ECML based, and I do have a few Deltics, I have one Brush 4 model, and it's D1500 as seen burbling slongside KX 'bottom shed' mid 1962. That was the class that made the general elimination of steam for fastish passenger traffic achievable on the UK railway. Got that one, that will do.

Can't see me buying any as they will.not be cheap, however it might result in wealthier Modellers selling their Bachmann 47s at reasonable prices.

Re: CavAlex announce Class 47
I have to say that I do find it a bit strange that yet another manufacturer is having a go at the class 47. Maybe I'm getting old though and remember the days when the only class 47 you could buy was an MTK kit (if you could afford one) which needed a third party motor to get it going, until Hornby introduced their model of the "Brush Type 4" which immortalised two real ones (D1738 and D1520). Since then we have had Lima, Heljan (twice)Hornby Railroad (Ex Lima) and Bachmann (three times) all having a go, so you could say we already have a superb choice even if some of the dimensions on a few of them are a bit dubious. Having said that, I'm sure Cavalex have done their market research and will have assessed the viability of tooling up a brand new version of one of the most ubiquitous diesel types of the '60s,to the present day.
We will wait and see, although my money is still tied up in the forthcoming Accurascale class 377 EMU!

Re: CavAlex announce Class 47
For their sakes I would hope so. There are most likely some class variants and equipment fits, in combination with livery schemes; that either haven't been covered at all, or on models that weren't ideally executed in some respects...Metadyneman wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 11:19 am ...I'm sure Cavalex have done their market research and will have assessed the viability of tooling up a brand new version of one of the most ubiquitous diesel types of the '60s,to the present day...
