Tip with cork trackbed

Post by aleopardstail »

Not exactly new, probably not cool but maybe useful

its not uncommon to use cork strips for trackbed, there are foam alternatives and this probably applies to them as well.

straight track is is, glue, apply trackbed, weight it, leave to dry, done.

curves.. meaaahhhh less so. the stuff seldom wants to bend and stay curved, it has the flex to do it but wants to spring back and lift. this makes any glue that takes a while to cure a pain, e.g. PVA.

enter my preferred glue, copydex - this goes on like PVA but if you leave it five minutes or sometimes more it goes tacky, it will now grab the cork and hold it much better, still want weights probably at the end but it will grab it a lot better and hold it as you go around the curve
