This is obviously seen as a risk by the two businesses making the proposal, since both have successfully brought their own brand models to market with good results. Sounds like a good subject choice to me, albeit ambitious in the scale of tooling required. Now it's down to those that model the recent and contemporary railway in OO to make the call.

Have to say that despite modelling the scene of 65 years past, and North of London, I did recently buy a s/h Bachmann 4CEP in all over BR(SR) green, because there was a time when I regularly rode in Mk1 based trams, and had a sudden fit of nostalgia brought on by the low low price; and have a friend building a suitable layout for it to operate on. So if the Electrostar is produced, and I should live so long, who knows. Good models are attractive. :D

Hmmm, call me jaundiced, a cynic or both but as a business, Id want to see more than an 'expression of interest' before embarking on such a project. Is this the one they're talking £500 dcc ready and £600 dcc fitted (with sound or is that even more?)?

The comments I saw on farcebook over the announcement was of incredulation at the price of even the cheapest version. Maybe they'll ask for a non refundable £250 deposit, only refunded if the project doesnt go ahead but, it doesnt interest me. I really wonder how many will shell out for it?

The timing is rather unfortunate, and that will influence potential uptake. But I would see this in relation to the current prices for models of both traction and rolling stock; for which there must have been sufficient enthusiast demand to support several brands specifically offering their take on 'highest standard yet seen' RTR OO models.

The result will answer my next question: Is the demand there for this specific group of MU's to such a standard?

I made absolutely no hesitation in ordering one straight away and my crisp £50 note is now in the hands of Accurascale. Anyone grizzling about the £500 has now got a good two years (after parting with the £50 deposit) to put some money away each week/month before they have to part with the rest of the money so that should take away any pain and urge to grizzle. Anyone who can't afford one, well that is life I'm afraid, I would love a brand new Mercedes but the prospects of me ever owning one are less than zero so i have to lump it!
There is also the possibility it will never happen if sufficient pre orders are not received by 29th March 2025. I'm trying not to think that will happen :|
