I am keeping my hobby alive (even if it is on life support at the moment) Due to break up of my relationship last May 2018 with my former girlfriend. I am now back living at home with mum. I am however still doing bits. I went to the Great Central Railway Model Railway event at Loughborough/Quorn and picked up a few bits
Hornby Class 50 (BR Blue)
Hornby TTS Class 40 sound chip
Bachmann Class 40 (BR Blue) Disc code
Bachmann Scenecraft Great Central Rothley waiting room 44-116C ( I think)
Great Central Railway Remembered dvd
A few bits i got off online
Class 50 parts bag, class 50 TTS sound chip
NRM coach (been wanting one for A LONG TIME)
TMC edition class 45 with marker lights
2 MK2 maroon coaches
Blood and custard coach
The main bulk is in storage due to space constraints.
I will however turn the Dumbarton station into East Leake as it would not take much alteration to make it look like it. Just need to get a few more GCR buildings to complete it and platform bits.
East Leake and Rothley station.

Well the latest update on my layout has been that nothing has taken place apart from it being taken down and now in storage.
I have been still keeping my hands busy though. I have been making a model of East Leake signal box and it has turned out very well..
I have also created a group on Facebook called Modelling the GCR or Great Central Railway.
I have also been buying more locos coaches.
I recently bought a large logo heljan class 47 with sound for £140 which I thought was a good price. I also managed to get my mits on the N2 1744 in GNR green.

Another thing, I need to buy another handset for the Bachmann Dynamis due to the growth of my dcc locomotives. I have filled one handset and I found out that it only holds 40 addresses in it. I have still over 20 something dcc ready locomotives to be converted.
Yes I have quite a lot of locos even though i have thinned it out. When I have the layout up and running again, i will be having 2 sheds both will be scratched built or possible some wills kits put together. May end up buying about 9 so I can have a 6 road one for the steam shed as a preserved area with a turn table at the end with tracks to the shed area.

Re: East Leake and Rothley station.
Hello everyone. Long time no update.
Latest is that I have been buying and building things for the model railway.
I have built from scratch East Leake signal box and I also have bought one of the accurascale class 37 in br blue. Some may or may not agree with me but it is one of the best models that have been produced. I have got Bachmann ones also a Vitrain one. The accurascale is so above the rest that I did not realise that is came with a stay alive within. The sound of the engine is amazing. The speaker kit they used is top notch.
Anyway I also have bought a sonic model GCR A5 and that is a good model.
I am slowly building a up a RTC collection as I am planing to put a test centre on the layout based on Derby RTC but back in the red and blue livery days. I have got the 46 24 and 08.

Test centre or other works of some sort is an ideal "excuse" (not that one is needed) to run pretty much anything from pretty much any eraiankemp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 10:12 am Hello everyone. Long time no update.

oh, and welcome back

Re: East Leake and Rothley station.
Hey, good to have you chiming in again, hope life is back on a more even keel. The various newcomers producing good models from a standing start is very impressive, and suggests to me some brokerage in China selling the opportunity for using the well established technique available, and possibly more...
It struck me as a little strange that Bachmann, having demonstrated a very well thought out approach to groups of locomotives, had stopped on the GCR 2-8-0, 4-4-0 and 0-6-0. Surely a tank loco as well (either of N5 or A5 clearly the most likely) was going to follow? Whatever, the Sonic model was a very pleasant surprise, and very much in the 'handsome is as handsome does' category.

Hey all.
Latest update.
I bought a Lima Class 40 D306 or 40106 the other week. I had a class 40 railroad version. I decided that the Lima model needed a upgrade. After much modification to the clear window support inside. I managed to fit the body onto the hornby chassis. I had got detailing parts for a few class 40s. So I fitted the West Hill Wagon Works kit to it. I decided not to stop there but also fit lights to the nose cones and also will be fitting brass indicator discs. I shall also be fitting sound to it. In the buffer beam detailing kit from West Hill it had got side pipes and lift supports as well. So they have been fitted. I decided to do this after I put a detailing kit that I bought off Ebay. The craftsman detailing kit is not a patch on the other kit I mentioned.
