Why does the US still persist with 3 rail? Reminds me of my old Dublo!

Lionel Trains have been around since 1900; 125 years. They have a huge following. A following that has bought 0 gauge three rail over the years. Models Lionel make can be and are trusted. That following is growing with kids wanting Lionel Products. Lionel cater for their market.
(End of Lionel promotion. No affiliation)

Actually Lionel do two rail track etc., but not as popular as other makes. Peco track in the U.S and Canada is popular

I still find it strange in an era where people want more realism. It's like watching their 520 line tv instead of the 4k (or better) that's available now.

Much more reliable running qualities than 2 rail.

We all overlook and compromise in model railways. Stations are smaller for example as we give a representation of the real.
Lionel customers overlook the third rail (as those running Dublo here) in return get better running quality. Looking at their catalogue, Lionel produce what their customers want. Hence still in business.

Yep. There are those who have the skills and talents to copy the real thing in detail, and then there are those who just like to run trains and listen to the sound of heavy old tinplate trains on the track and just love to run them! And then there are the likes of me who do my own thing anyway! :D

True, some can't stand a noisy layout while I love the sound of wheels on track.
Horses for courses, I guess. :D

There is a certain magic about 3rail, it just can't be beaten as far as I'm concerned.

How magic does this trackwork look. Maybe its me living and growing up in the heart of Southern territory.
