This time I decided the sidings we have are too short to reverse back.
Not only that I didn't want this lot scattered over other running lines.
Being a club track there is always pressure on 'time' as others also want
to run things.

It is funny how one remembers the wagons that would be problematic as one had to put them towards the back. Wagons such as the Mainline Ellis & Everard. Anyone else find this wagon too light? I never actually bothered adding weight to it! It just had the "Back of the train" treatment instead.

have an Oxford Rail one here thats light, unexpected issue when its near the front on a downward grade, my track undulates slightly, sometimes its forwards coupler goes under the coupler of the loco or wagon ahead, this then lifts its rear axle as it levels out.. derailment..

back of the train works, as will adding a load (its an open wagons so should be easy)

It's a matter of individual choice for the layout owner, but my preference will always be for unrestricted 'any with any' reliability, just as it was on the real railway for wagons in general service. With more wagons on the layout than I can possibly 'know personally', the alternative is a path to madness...

Sobering to think that if that train of 16T mineral wagons had been the Accurascale products, then you would be looking at a cool £550.

could be worse, could be the Hornby coronation rake, which when I looked at it was going to be roughly £680 - £700... plus a loco...

there is a reason I don't have one.. thats the reason.

that is a seriously impressive goods train though, and very nice to see the 9f can actually haul it

Thanks for the comments guys,

I dread to think of what my rolling stock cost, even from when I was buying Dapol kits at just over
£4 each.
I do spend an inordinate amount of time trying to harmonise couplers. a few of these had Kadees
removed for this exercise, yet still kept their brakes. I never had any doubts about any being pulled
off on those turns, but did wonder if the 9F may get wheel slip as those turns do increase draw-bar,
pull, but no sign of that.

Current cost of most rolling stock has gone ballistic, even second hand, that's tough particularly for
the inexperienced. I did notice Lima Horse & Groom vans can still be picked up for not much more
than £7 each. The rub is to make up to modern standards you need to change couplers, modify wheels,
re-paint & decal. Oh and sort out those roof gas light & roof.

yes the costs of this hobby have gotten silly, wouldn't be so bad for the newer, amazingly detailed stuff to be at these prices if the budget ranges hadn't also shot up

If not for the bay of Eeeeeee I'd never have started in N never mind jumped to OO
