Hi all, not sure if it is actually the 7th iteration of my layout but it feels like it
the last version was going well but there were too many tiny things eating away at me, certain areas of trackwork that just wouldn't function properly, siding length in the fiddle yard, and the constant bottlenecking of trains around the layout
so I decided it was time to just try and build the most ambitious layout yet (I'll finish one I promise) incorporating a lot of design ideas I've gotten from European layouts
so far I've completed an absolutely ridiculous fiddle yard and I'm currently in the process of wiring it up for automation, and I've also finished the trackwork on the "parade route"
I'll add the current scenic track plan, but I'm leaving a lot of it in flux as when I start building an area I often get better ideas than looking at a plan on a computer
anyway here's a barrage of photos

More that a little potential.
Get something going around ASAP to keep you company as the major works progress.
Bottlenecks ? there were always a lot on the prototype railways.
Anyways all power to your soldering iron !!

oh I did, the first modification to the plan was to add a loop on the fiddleyard level to run trains.. er test things...
I'm sick of the soldering iron now aha
too much track, its bankrupting me
so after taking that picture I'm genuinely considering making some of the "hidden bits" scenic cause they looked surprisingly interesting

I know it too well from the past and that was when track was cheaper!Michaelaface wrote:

And then once all the track is layed and all is finally up and running, one can end up with a lot of track to clean!

Why these days with narrow gauge, even if I do end up with a long large layout, most of it is by nature a single track line, so track cleaning will be quicker.
(Used to take me between half an hour and an hour to clean all the track on my 00 layout I used to have, but thats nothing compared to a G scale garden railway I helped clean, and that took a whole day and a half to do, though it does not need doing so often as I have seen G scale trains run on brown tarnished track, which is something a 00 gauge trains will never do! (Both being track powered).

Errr Yes Michaela, I thought you'd left the country !!
Good to hear you're still alive & kicking.
