Early Hornby Tin Plate Electric Trains

Just watched a history of Hornby (Meccano). The first electric O gauge train operated on..... 110V AC (70V AC is considered lethal). The mind boggles.

Open knife type switches were still considered safe when they were produced. We've come a long way since then.
Growing old, can't avoid it. Growing up, forget it!
