Still looking at the incline problem. Has anyone ever tried elevating one end of the layout by an inch?

This would create an incline of about half a percent on all the formally flat surfaces and create an incline of less than 3% on the incline.

Total redesign needed if I am going to achieve a trouble free incline. I've come up with this in the smallest space possible. (there is a 21cm square cut out to make room for a structural post)

This will fit comfortably in the corner of my shed. It permits a 2.3% incline. As usual for me a very small layout for tank engines and short trains. All curves are 2nd deg rad, with the exception of 1 small piece of 1st rad track (22.5%). I've read that this is the equivalent the curve that forms part of set track point, so I'm hoping that locos requiring 2nd deg curves will tolerate this. Ifs fitted between 2 2nd deg curves.

I've given up with trying to fit an incline into a small layout, it appeared to me that the incline in such a small place was going to be a problem from day 1.
So I new layout has been drawn. It takes up a reasonably small area of my 12ft by 9ft garden gazebo, fitting nicely along the 9ft side, but still leaving space for my reclining chair and computer station.

This layout is planned to give the advantages of end to end running with the benefit of a continuous loop.

I'm not as agile as I once was so two local carpenters were employed yesterday to make and install the baseboard and legs. The baseboard is 19mm marine ply on 2"square framing, 0n its own legs and secured firmly to the structure of the gazebo. They proved how strong it is by walking up and down on it once it was completed.
My last layout was blown away and destroyed in a very violent typhoon (left the island without electricity for 6months) so I'm making this one as typhoon proof as possible!
I've taken photos on my android phone but I'm struggling to transfer them onto my laptop, I can't open any files described on the laptop that are on the phone  I'm persevering with that problem, when I solve it photos will be posted.
I've put an oval of track on it, but I'm now waiting for my daughter to arrive in March with new points, locos and rolling stock
