Coming out of hibernation

Post by Chops »

The short winter days really pulled the chair out from under me, this year. Fortunately had the good sense
to build "Henley" a proper dust cover before I retired for the season. Warmer, longer days are reviving me, and
here a few of the projects I've started up with:

Pulled this old Triang off the shelf. I just love this old thing- good old sturdy British manufacturing, it still runs
like the day it was made. It gives me pleasure just to look at it. I love the purpose driven engineering cloaked
in elegant Victorian apple green and pin striping. It just speaks "Britain."

This is a lovely Joeuf piece. Since most North American modelers are distracted by the buffers of European
railroads, they would not know this from British versus Continental. It allows me a murderous degree of
artistic license. This viewing coach is the newest addition to Chops's Rail Tours, which features trips for those
hoping to glimpse the elusive Loch Ness Monster.

I am struggling to fit in a bit of quintessential British history: the canal and lock. I tried using a paper kit,
which is almost unheard of Stateside, but became bogged down in the extraordinary level of detail these
things have. I am much better with the one piece Hornby resin casting! None the less, I have been chipping
at it slowly over the last few months, and being disenchanted with the way it crowds the scene, will likely
bag the whole lot and start over. The challenge, no less, is a pleasure, and I stare with wonder and envy
at the skilled artisans of this Forum who make it look easy.

Got to run this old gal today, Triang I believe. So satisfying to see this vintage piece come to life and perform her chores
with such ease. I love this old Triang stuff.

Recently acquired, from Canada, this Triang piece, which I enjoy for the medical connection. Oddly, though it is RAMC, it
lacks buffers. I will need to scrounge some up.

Sorry for DP.

Whilst Chops comes out of hibernation some of us are in self isolation. :( :)

Nice pictures, Chops.

Thanks, Glencairn. Hopefully this mess will blow over soon as it started.
