Taking apart a Mainline wagon??

Post by End2end »

Can some please enlighten me on how to take apart a Mainline wagon please?
I need to take the body off to respray it.
Here's a picture of the underneath of the wagon with the wheels removed.

IIRC the body is held on solely by those four pips that are just inboard of the recesses for the wheels. You need to push on them with a screwdriver of similar (I think they spring inwards) until the body frees itself. No great problem if they break, it can be glued back on

I have some very early Bachmann wagons, the slots for those pips are there but no pips. The body is glued on, later versions don't have the slots, just glue.

Just about inevitable given the age of the wagon. At least the plastic used for the Mainline bodies only went brittle with age. Try finding a Rovex Triang coach with a roof that hasn't gone banana shaped.
