O Gauge Micro Layout and PDF's svailable
Hello all,
Recently I converted my O Gauge micro layout to a rural terminus, based on running practises on the Bishops Castle Railway and on Canterbury Road Station on the East Kent Railway.
Here's a little video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TtpHJpefRQ
The loco is made from card including the chassis
Ditto the wagons, track is card sleepers and copper clad strips for the points
I have done PDF's on making a loco and wagons from card and making the controller tat powers the loco in the vid
If you would like the PDF's please send me a nice message with your email adress.
Cheers
I'm looking on the phpBB forum to find the code to embed the video, not much luck yet
Does anyone know how to do this, I would be grateful for any information

Simplicity, but wonderful to view. It is like you are trainspotting in a yard.

You've already done the first step thats posting the URL of the video. I don't know if You Tube supplies one but what you need now is a thumbnail from the video inserted into the URL in the same way that you can insert your own text. I found an article on doing it here. I haven't had chance to play around with it yet.jimread wrote:I'm looking on the phpBB forum to find the code to embed the video, not much luck yet

The format for the url is img.youtube.com/vi/ <youtube video id> / <default/0/1/2/3> .jpg
(I've removed the https:// from the example to stop it being parsed as a link)
You can also use i3.ytimg.com instead of img.youtube.com
For the video above you get:

Wonderful switching layout. Thanks for the video.
Don't take life so seriously, you'll never get out of it alive.
Re: O Gauge Micro Layout and PDF's svailable
The loco and stock being made from cardboard is interesting. It certainly keeps costs down.
I like the idea of making a layout where everything on there has been made yourself. It is a concept that I'm slowly building up.... Though I'm using 7mm narrow gauge instead.
Glad to watch your layout on the links you gave. Thanks.

Well done jim your layout is great and as a fellow card modeller, worth looking at your download of building and methods of construction. Have you made anymore steam tank locos?
Re: O Gauge Micro Layout and PDF's svailable
Hello DR,
Thanks for the message good of you glad you find the PDF's useful.
I have made a Y8 loco and am going to make a small diesel loco for my new layout.
The one above has been sold and I have another one, Moxley for sale at the moment.
Cheers - Jim

What a charming little layout. I'm amazed you've built a chassis in card. The loco runs superbly well too with good shunting speeds. I've ever seen one other card 0 gauge loco, it was a great northern 0-8-2 tank. It was stunning with its ornate paintwork.
Myself I prefer brass & nickel silver, but it's whatever works for the individual.
Kind regards
Simon

A shame it's been 2.1/2 years since Jim last visited us.
I'm always in awe to what some modellers can do with card, certainly
well beyond my skill levels.
