WARVAL

Post by J28MAKER »

Hello heres some pictures of my n gauge layout WARVAL ive been building it some 3 years now fitting it between other diy jobs. I've started to extend it since I moved into my new home and my wife insisted I had the spare room. She was more than happy with her garden and sun room. a fair trade I think. more pictures to come soon.

A few more of early WARVAL. The layout is a few years old it was started because my good mate Ed made the first building out of 2 offcuts of timber at work. I thought hmmm a church then came the station and sheds and that was that. the layout was born. I'm aiming for a small town near the coast with a depot/yard and turntable. it will be a circular layout about 9ft x 7ft. please comment any input would be great good or bad.

Looking good so far and looking forward to watching the extension take shape. I'm jealous of your trade-off

Am interested in how you did the bridge supports - DAS modelling clay or what? (Any stage progress shots perhaps please?)

Hello ex-pat yes it was das air dry clay. For the inner support its just 2x1 timber then a coat of pva glue. Whilst the glue was still wet I applied little blobs at a time and moulded it to shape. Allowed to dry then marked out with a pencil and scribed with a scalpel. Thank you for your interest.

Nice looking work going on there J28maker. Some of those shots give a great look of a busy industrial town served by the railway. Some traffic and a population would just tie the whole thing off.

Keep the posts coming though, I'm enjoying what I've seen so far.

I like this very much. The builder's yard complete with silo set in a residential/urban setting is particularly effective. And the first two photos portray an excellent merging of the urban and rural edge-of-town scene. Top work I reckon. Thanks for the photos.

Thanks for your comments folks it really makes it worthwhile when someone likes your work. As for the layout I will be adding traffic and people I'm just getting the track down first. since I moved into my new home last November I haven't as yet ran a single loco. I'm aiming for Wednesday night. since it will be a special occasion I'm torn between running TORNADO/ NIGEL GRESLEY OR MALLARD any preferences?? first response wins. (this is not a definite tho, depends if work gets in the way) sadly as for the backdrop to the layout I had to remove it as it was damage when a leaking ceiling ruined it. I'm in two minds to replace it or stick with neutral blue. ps what format do I have to use for adding a video??? and what software if any i.m using windows 10. tried to add one but said it won't allow mov? I drive plant and model rail I don't do computer jargon so be gentle :D :D :D

Pop a video on YouTube and then add the link here. Simplest (and only way?) to do it.

You must be looking forward to the first loco run! What's planned for under the bridge?
