GWR Breakdown crane

Post by GWR_fan »

Not my work, but a recent eBay find. Not quite prototypical but it does catch the spirit of the prototype. Painted in GWR grey, the flash does make the colour appear lighter. An excellent model.

Nice to see one that's not the Dapol/Airfix kit or any of the Hornby (including HD) woeful versions. I know they were painted red at one stage but never dayglo flourescent red. Or if it was it wasn't refreshed often enough to keep the glow.

Yes - an interesting kit the Booth Rodley - the one used by the GWR ran on a rigid 8-wheel chassis - but they did produce a bogie version too - for private customers.

The GW one did use a Bogie Bolster A as a crane jib truck too !.
