House for sale with railway or is it the other way round?

Post by michaelasc »

Just came across this house listing in the USA with the most amazing railway on the grounds.

Just wish I'd known about it when I was in Portland last year!

$3.5 million! That is tempting. Lady G says she would miss the grandchildren? I wouldn't miss her. (Good job I ducked just then)

It's been on the market a very long time. You would think they've knocked a couple of million off the price by now.

That's only about £2m - not much more than a much more modest property in London. I know you would have to give up the solid traffic, pollution, and noise if you bought it - but it seems a bit of a bargain really.

True, but you'd need to put up with people using too many Z's, and not enough U's.

Also, for some reason, the incessant ding-ding of US locomotive bells really irratates me.

But once you'd bought the house modellers rule #1 would apply.
"It's my railway and I'll run it the way I b***** well like"

ps I'm not turning american it's just a convenient way of saying "number one"

they do to us that live here with then too! but at least they only do that where people are around, and the loco is going slow, when they are moving out of towns they use the horn when approaching a crossing, but you hear the diesel engine a long time before they do that!
