Is fitting together N gauge track a bit more difficult than OO ?
I've bought a Farish set off of EBay with a basic oval and then ordered some points and N fishplates,
Trouble is the fishplates dont seem to go on the track the same as in OO.
Maybe ive been a bit naive about it? Some of the points were Peco streamline and other points Shenora, I thought they were all 80 and not 55, and maybe made a mistake buying the Shenora?
Still have some more peco 80 to come. Just want to make it a bit more interesting than an oval, on a small space on a sideboard top. ( 5'6" X 18 " approx )
As I said totally new to N so any pointers welcome.

Re: Fitting together N gauge track
The Peco ones should go together ok if you are using Peco fishplates, just compared with OO they are a little bit fiddly!! Can't speak for the Jap track as I don't use it... Compare the ends of the two rails, then you can then see what the differences are...
Re: Fitting together N gauge track
If it is Peco flexi track (streamline), did you file the burr off the bottom of the rail after you cut it? Quite often stops the joiners sliding on in my case!

Re: Fitting together N gauge track
the shenohara stuff has a wider foot i think so peco fishplates won't fit, the point i inherited didn't even have an over centre spring mechanism so i didn't use it.
Re: Fitting together N gauge track
The fishplates can be difficult to slide on, especially if you bent them back and forth to break them up as there might be a slight lip on them as a result.
Re: Fitting together N gauge track
You could use shenohara (sp?) fishplates to join it up to the Peco track, then!locoworks wrote:the shenohara stuff has a wider foot i think so peco fishplates won't fit, the point i inherited didn't even have an over centre spring mechanism so i didn't use it.
