Hello there aussiedamo, yes, I am pleased to report mild progress. The good weather over the past view weekends have drawn me out of the loft to do gardening but I'll post some pictures up later, don't get too excited though eh!?!

Re: Starlingford

In other news, my paint roller has arrived (may have to test that on Marlbrook), with paint (and also the Woodland Scenics cinders to enable me to finish the engine depot); and so has the Skaledale Road Overbridge - a much larger, more solid piece of kit than frankly I was expecting (and we can all...

Re: BomBaDillic's new 00 layout - Lodge Valley

You can also get a spray can of sleeper grime, I have the precision paints version, which is darker than the railmatch version. I am pretty sure that railmatch do it in a spray but have not seen it available, I'm sure Raider had some from somewhere. I did a large amount of track in 20 mins or so wi...

Re: BomBaDillic's new 00 layout - Lodge Valley

Bombadillic, Is there a certain technique to applying the sleeper grime? Or is it just smeared on with a paint brush? Thanks, Ste. Hi Ste, For the sleeper grime I just coated everything with the paint, rails and all. I’ve haven’t done points yet but just be careful when it comes to painting the...

Re: Loxley Lane, 6x4, OO layout

The kits are looking good Graymee, I would certainly invest in these if I required more houses for Lodge Valley. I'm glad you're sticking to the 6x4 for now, I first started with an 11x5 layout which I found a tad overwhelming for a first ever attempt so when we moved it was scrapped and am much hap...

Re: BomBaDillic's new 00 layout - Lodge Valley

I think the track as photographed in 'Phase 4' looks spot on. In my experience, any line in regular use would show very little signs of 'rust', either on the inner or outer faces. The predominant colour would be just like your 'sleeper grime' and while 'Phase 4' in my opinion looks tremendously rea...

Re: BomBaDillic's new 00 layout - Lodge Valley

Evening! Had a delivery from the post lady on Saturday, Railmatch Sleeper Grime so I’ve had a play on a piece of tester track and thought I’d share the results. Phase 1: Bought Sleeper Grime http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad11/BomBaDillica/Lodge%20Valley/22.jpg Phase 2: Before: Black, shiny ...

Re: BomBaDillic's new 00 layout - Lodge Valley

A question .....It's payday for me on Friday and I'm buying some Railmatch Sleeper Grime to weather my track. Am I best using Sleeper Grime acrylic or enamel? I've never ventured this far into model railways before so thought I best check before making an impulse buy. Thanks for your answers! EDIT:...

Re: Loxley Lane, 6x4, OO layout

Good luck with your move to the loft, I find our loft space huge, I'm currently using half the loft for storage and the other half as a boys room/model railway space. And don't have any issues in terms of space or height. Being a gentlemen of 6ft 4 myself, it's nice being able to walk around in a fu...

Re: BomBaDillic's new 00 layout - Lodge Valley

Thanks Tom, you've done it again... Of course, I'm now also reconsidering my track layout to fit around it, so this could turn out to be a far more 'intriguing' purchase and redesign programme... :?
