Re: Best layout room lighting colour
... "locking" the camera after it had been set up inside a shop, then taking it out onto the street.. Routemasters and pillar boxes in mauve anyone? You don't notice the extent to which your eyes adapt to the spectrum of available light. Thanks Bufferstop. Hence, I suppose, the idea that ...

Re: Laser cutting services for modellers
Does anyone know if there is a reasonably priced bespoke laser cutting service for modellers? Some Public Libraries operate a " tool library ". While your local Public Library may not operate one, they should know of the nearest one to their branch. HTH, Chris P.S. Closest tool library to...

Re: We Could Have Told Them This Will Happen!
And another one that happened at the same location about 3 years ago - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oyMx-ta_sY I love the way the camera operator walks away (0m23s) from his camera seconds before the train derails (I suspect he was alerted by the sound of derailment and that caused him to walk ...

Re: Interesting Prototype Railway...
You would want the complete job surely? Absolutely! I reason that if this sort of modelling doesn't exist yet, it will. Once the basic Input/Output mechanisms are available (detector etc.) then it becomes simply (!) a matter of programming a chip. Pretty well anything can be done. As far as a dead ...

Re: Interesting Prototype Railway...
Impressive! I am sticking with "disgusting" on account of this layout runs above a vegetable garden that is more impressive than my vegetable garden, with or without rakes of twenty? LMS coaches. (Several years pass ...) Whatever you do, don't watch all 68 videos on that channel! I do lik...

Now that the now looks like it might start to melt, I'm thinking of dropping my plans for a window-sill T-gauge station and maybe working outside.
Cheers, Chris

Re: 220th anniversary of passenger trains
 Man, you must be keen on Paris! Yep! In 1978 I worked in the Île-de-France, lived in Paris and commuted to the suburbs. I fell in love with the Carte d'Orange and the RER and suburban trains. Also the logically-numbered bus routes in Paris itself. I was frightened and didn't explore. Even t...

Re: 220th anniversary of passenger trains
The booking centre says that we cannot get on at Caboolture. We must board the train at Roma Street in the Brisbane CBD. So we must schlep our luggage all the way into the centre of the city and then travel back past our house and up to Caboolture where we know the train stops. Oh Phred! Stop whing...

220th anniversary of passenger trains
... if I've done my sums right.
"History was made in 1804 when Cornish inventing pioneer Richard Trevithick's engine moved on tracks under its own steam."
Where is Merthyr Tydfil?
I had not realized that there were 220 years of this business.
Cheers, Chris

Re: Baseboard legs- Updated question in last reply
Those aren't my legs. I have 4 legs, 63 x 38. There is a little movement both ways so not hundred percent sure i need bracing but would help i suppose. The proof is in the time after pudding arrives, as they say. (1) Invite four or six people over for dinner. (2) Serve enough wine (3) Serve dinner,...

Re: The BNR (another way)
The permanent way department are considering relaying the track on the steepest parts with steel rail which is believed to have a higher coefficient of friction than the existing alloy rails. Hi Gerald. You should be able to get quantitative measurements by use of an adjustable ramp. Use a specific...

And while we are still on-topic (grin) I found this little video which makes me wonder if the "T-" doesn't stand for Third rail.
