Re: 3D Printing - Quite An Adevnture
I would argue that the model running massively on 'tip toe' over it's bogies would look worse for 99% of the end users who will not have the layout that supports dropping them, but wants a model that looks like a deltic running I fully understand the commercial imperative operating here, but if a b...

Re: About time for some new steam traction announcements
BR reverse colour scheme Western Pulman, RRP £750? Yikes! :o A friend drew my attention earlier today to Accurascale's recent announcement of a rather funky modern Irish MU model. This runs to 700 Euro for the six car set with DCC sound, very much the same territory. This is what it is going to cos...

Re: Accurascale announce EE type 4, TOPS class 50
Fitting a Stay Alive, twin speakers and advanced PCB's adds -a lot- relatively to the cost of a model, the difference is between 10-20% depending on the model between a 'sound ready' and 'nothing on board' model, and the wholesale OEM cost of an ESU lok5 is freely available. Margins on a sound model...

Re: 3D Printing - Quite An Adevnture
(That last one falls into the same category as such as Hornby pacifics with flangeless trailing truck wheelsets: if there's a path to fix an otherwise good model, I'll take it; so it hangs on whether their class 37 bogies have scale diameter wheelsets and are made available as spares. They do, and t...

Re: Accurascale Class 30/31 announcement
Welcome news, and Accurascale have a large choice of livery schemes to apply to this 'old-timer'. But for me, it will only be the simple green of BR's original class 30 with the Mirrlees engines. Unfortunately the class 3D is presently not available with the sound option as there is no working Loco...

Re: Accurascale Wagon Packs
As we did with our PTAs and will with the chaldron wagons.
Customers don't want to have to install couplers though, is the feedback we get, even tho on our locos we detail on end and pop the coupler in the other,,, I guess we need to blame triang for using tension locks all those years ago

Re: Accurascale Wagon Packs
Accurascale's explanation Our Mk2's couple touching on the straight, and we've included coupling bars or knuckles with many wagon packs (and our Chaldron wagons use a bespoke magnetic chain). Our Mk5 range also feature magnetic dummy delners. The tension lock is (for now) a necessary evil, but it's...

[Admin's edit] this is accurascale's response
If it helps, accurascale offer an automatic 10% bundle discount when you buy two or more packs of wagons (or coaches)

Thanks for all the feedback so far, we hope to be able to share more details and CAD of the coupling system and how it should enabled prototypical close coupling if needed.

Re: Accurascale to announce UK OO loco at Warley
Sprung buffers are a step forward, but NEM coupler pockets are of very limited use if they are not fitted to NEM 352 mechanisms, limiting the choice of couplers to Kadees, and then, really, only on curves of 24" or greater radius. What is the alternative though? Ultimately, most modellers will...

Re: Accurascale to announce UK OO loco at Warley
In 00 scale, the real turn-off, for me, is the tension lock coupler. The "other" Europeans dealt with this issue 25 years ago, with NEM coupler mechanisms, a solution that is quite appropriate to 00 scale, but one that has not yet been fully embraced. Being able to run 00 scale locos and ...

Thanks Jim!
We're certain that when you see 'our' Class 55, there will not be anything 'fractional' about it.
We're always delighted to get suggestions too, so if you would love some of those gaps filled, just let us know!
