Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Hi all only a small update. Good news .. My order from America came for the chemist interior, but not before I had to pay a customs fee of £11.70 which included a handling fee from Royal Mail of £8. Absolutely cheesed off with that! However when I get the opportunity the kits will make an excellent ...

Very nice effect with the floor finish. The colours achieved in variation look great. Do you ever find that the card warps at all? That's one issue I have to contend with.

Re: Not a layout - but railway modelling

It looks really good. I look forward to seeing your results with the scenic water. You can get some good pre made reeds to go with it once it's set. I was thinking how would I glue them on as super glue 9/10 leaves a white residue behind.

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Cheers Jim and m.levin much appreciated. Paul, I have ordered two of these kits from America. In oo scale there is quite a gap in the market for full on interiors, however HO scale have quite a bit going especially German or American models. image.jpg When I saw this laser cut kit I was beaming as i...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Hi all, just a small update. I spent an hour or two on the computer and tried to replicate the W.C. White shop front sign using good old paint and Microsoft word.

I am quite chuffed with the result.

I've said it before but I must again that your ballasting and track weathering is just perfect.

Jim, it looks really good, and creates a lot of depth in the building. I really do like your low relief factories, they are a real source of inspiration. I look forward to more

Cheers

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

Looking good, I always have to go through a simlar process to stop light beefing out the walls. I find that if I like the finish of something, and don't want to add to it, however it has a shine or glue marks, I use a blast of humbrol mat varnish. Acylic dries in seconds but is prone to leave a whit...

Re: Galgorm Hall 00 Gauge Loft Layout

Progress is looking great, and it is tedious. I have decided to get my track from Hattons. I will gather an order together, and usually it is cheaper than high street shops. The postage is no more than a fiver and on a big order you could make a saving. I find that the dispatch is quite quick as wel...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER/ BR garage layout

Thank you Jim  and Geoff T A new addition to the fleet arrived this week. The locomotion LNER C1 is an excellent model although quite expensive. I have not had chance to add all the detail parts yet and still need to run it in. It will serve my layout on express passenger / parcels traffic. Oth...

It's good to see you jumping in and trying the airbrush out. I am not sure what's the best way of weathering ballast. I have sprayed my track sleeper grime before ballasting and will make it up as I go along when I get to it. So I will be curious to see your progress.

Re: Not a layout - but railway modelling

I love the idea and it does look the business. How far do you go with detail? I say as much as you can be bothered but it's those little thing I love that you can't see from afar that makes you get your eye in to the land scape that has been created.

Great stuff

Jim, that ride on view was brilliant, I love it when you can get right down to eye level and see the 'world' as it would be viewed. Like that which has already been stated, attention to detail is 10/10. 8)
