Re: Hi from Australia
Hi! :) PowerCab was a good controller choice to kick off with in DCC regardless the scale. Welcome to the NewRailwayModellers forums. Well, there weren't too many choices, unless I was willing to import a system and deal with an overseas supplier in case of a defect or warranty claim :) I was eyeba...

Re: Well Done Hornby
Favourites of mine in this respect the B12, D16, J15 and J50. They make many of the older products look badly off the pace. I love my J15 and plan to buy more, runs smooth and was easy to add the decoder. My Hornby S15 was also chopped at the same time and they run well together. ESU Lokpilot Stand...

Re: DCC questions - Roco Multimaus
Also, if I stick with the Roco, will it work with the z21 system? And how would it benefit me? The Pro system was only available for a short time before the z21 system came out. The Z21 yes but not so certain about the z21 (black is the pro model white is basic). I got the Z21 pro as it supports ex...

Re: Australian Hobby Shops.
A 'new' hobby shop I found recently is Australian Modeller, it's specifically trains and supplies only Australian stuff (which can be harder to find at other places). https://www.australianmodeller.com.au/ I just bough 4 ESU lokpilot decoders from them for $35 each, seemed to be the only place that ...

Re: "Hall" and "Castle" TTS
I have both a Hall and 2 King Hornby TTS sound locos and the Hall is different to the Kings. Not massively but enough to pick out if you have heard them. I could record them and send you a link from youtube? Edit: Or I could just link you to 2 of IC82s reviews: King - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Welcome to the forums John,
I've also come from a modelling background and can say alot of the skills come in use, as do any technical skills (computer or electrical).
Hope you enjoy your stay,
Rico.

Re: thinking of going dcc
I also recommend DCC, we have a DC and DCC layout at the local club and I don't even touch the DC one. DCC just makes analogue obsolete. Smoother running, multiple trains on the same line and sound DCC alone makes it worth the cost which vares depending on how much you want to spend. A DCC chip can ...

I bought my Roco Z21 from DCC Concepts, the staff are friendly and have helped me get up to speed on model railway and DCC systems specifically. Already planning to order some ESU decoders from them

Re: Hornby TTS system/decoders
I have the King Richard II, Ketley Hall and P2 C*ck o the North in TTS sound and have found them to run well with my Roco Z21 system. Their sound is good and the performance has been excellent. While a full fledged ESU decoder can do far more, for their price their great and I'd grab any other TTS l...

Re: Returning to model railway and saying hello
Hi and welcome Shunty, Personally I am working towards making all my locos DCC sound, best to take advantage of the improvements to the hobby. I am also starting to get back into the hobby, even joined a local railway club which is giving me somewhere to run my trains while I get info on building my...

Re: Hornby E-link
When showing the Western Masters (I think), the pannier with some wagons and the elink, Will from intercity 82 had to copy the disc data to a thumb drive to install it as he was installing on a Windows 8 ultrabook. This shows it can be done, according to the video all he did was copy the whole conte...
